OMG. A post in the Onyxia forum that isn't A) a signup, B) someone laughing at a signup or C) a post (serious or otherwise) inquiring about Ony invite time.

Kenco did his homework and has come up with a testable reason why Phase 2 to 3 agro is wonky, why she used to be easier for most of us, and why smaller groups are able to do her much more easily.

The short answer is: Her fireballs appear to be a 100% deagro, and there is no global agro wipe. She used to be easier because we took longer to kill her, thus allowing for more fireballs to be spread around. Now that we can kill her quicker, some people may not eat any fireballs before she lands.

The last time I was in there with Noc Horde, she musta deagro'ed me 50 times.

Thank you War for your evervast, and greatly appreciated, research of the game. I'll take a look at the thread when I get home since I'm sure that site is blocked at work.

I'd highly recommend that everyone that raids in 5-man groups to 40-man raids use KTM and keep it updated. The author does an excellent job of constantly making adjustments to the mod to make it as accurate as possible. While it isn't totally 100% accurate based on what I see it is extremely helpful at predicting where you are on the threat list. Only downside seems to be that not everyone uses it so the lists seems incomplete and not as accurate as possible. That only gets better as everyone member of the raid has this mod installed and uses it in our raids.

Wow that's a good catch and from memory it seems like it's pretty accurate. So how/where do we put our main tank that she can't fireball so that when she comes down he get's her 100% of the time.

Seems to me you could bunch 3 groups up around the room, and have the MT off by himself. This would give the lowest chance of getting him fireballed. However, thats a lot of healing, which might be tough to pull off with a smaller group.

A couple points of clarification:

The range on the fireball appears to be unlimited, and not affected by LOS, there is no way to dodge this.

The deagro component of the fireball appears to only be applied to the target directly struck by the fireball, the splash damage of the explosion does not seem to cause any threat reduction.

I can't think of a way offhand to force your MT to the top of the list in phase 3. What this will let us do is know who she is going to go after in advance, so they can already be north while the MT builds threat.

I sure hope you are looking at this for the 20 man Noc Horde runs specifically, because Ony hasnt been tough in, like, forever.

Yeah not enough people on tonight for the 20 man attempt but I want to play with this a bit. I know that in Phase 2 when I am healing I get fireballed directly because Ony looks at me about 3 seconds before it hits me. When I am in bear or cat form simply hitting whelps I can't remember every having her look directly at me. Do you think she's still gathering aggro the same in phase 2 based on the healing and damage being done to her?

I think so based on when I brought my lock the last couple of times. I get fireballed alot if I DoT and shadowbolt.
